Dr Tim is one of Manchester’s most experienced and award-winning dermatologists, having worked as an NHS consultant since 2007. He is currently President of the British Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Dermatology (BSPAD) and Clinical Lead for Paediatric Dermatology at both Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and Salford Royal Hospital.
Over the course of his career, he has helped train many of the dermatologists who now practise across the city. As a fully accredited adult and paediatric dermatologist on the GMC Specialist Register, he diagnoses and treats the full spectrum of skin conditions in adults, teenagers and children. Manchester born and raised, he has devoted his consultant career to caring for patients in his home city.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Tim remains actively involved in dermatology research, publishing scientific papers and contributing to leading dermatology textbooks. He is also a regular contributor to television programmes across the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, and developed an award-winning moisturiser for dry and eczema-prone skin.
From October 2026, Dr Tim’s private Manchester clinic will be based at new premises at 125 Deansgate, in the heart of Manchester city centre.

Dermexpert is a consultant-led dermatology practice founded and run by Dr Tim Clayton. Tim is pleased to welcome his trusted colleague, Dr Jennifer Sharif, who offers a clinic at Dermexpert one Monday afternoon each month.
Dr Jen is a consultant dermatologist specialising in both adult and paediatric dermatology, with additional expertise in female genital skin conditions. She has worked closely alongside Dr Tim for over six years at Salford Royal Hospital and Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
Dr Jen shares Dermexpert’s commitment to high-quality, thoughtful and patient-centred care. She consults independently at Dermexpert between 1:30pm and 5:00pm one Monday each month.

Dr Tim is delighted to announce a brand new moisturising cream for babies and children with dry, sensitive skin.
Over the years Tim has found that many of his patients and their carers look to purchase moisturisers over the Internet.
Generally he finds that they contain all the wrong things such as fragrances, preservatives and petrochemicals and the wrong sort of oils such as olive Oil and coconut oil which can be harsh particularly on the skin of babies with eczema.
This new moisturiser formulated by Dr Tim Clayton contains only natural ingredients and is free from fragrance, paraffin and parabens. It was designed to nourish, protect and soothe children’s skin. It can also be used on adults with dry skin.
